An Intelligent City platform will improve Cartagena's trade, tourism, security and accessibility (23/08/2018)

Information is fundamental and can be used to improve vital issues for a municipality such as citizen security, tourism, commerce or accessibility.

For this reason, the City of Cartagena has hired the development service of a Smart City Platform based on Big Data and Internet of Things Technologies.

The objective is to collect data from multiple sources, both municipal and anonymous, (social networks or websites, among others) and be able to use them to improve the services provided to citizens.

The base bidding budget is 399,300 euros and the deadline for submission of offers ends on Monday, August 27, so it is foreseen that by the end of September work will be already underway on this project.

As a starting point, the use cases will focus on the following areas:

1. Smart tourist destination

2. Open government and citizen participation

3. Electronic administration for social inclusion

4. Citizen Security

5. Control of services (both internal and contractor companies)

6. Sensorization and IOT devices

This management of information will allow to group and establish behavior patterns.

The Government team is currently considering a new impulse in the use of technology that will serve as support for its strategic management of an intelligent city.

In this specific case, it is possible to carry out a treatment and an advanced analysis of the available information of the city and its surroundings, that is, information coming from existing data sources or obtained from other sources through agreements or agreements. .

This information will be grouped and will allow establishing patterns of behavior of the population, which will facilitate multiple actions based on them.

For example, if the information that is handled reveals that English tourists usually eat in restaurants in Plaza San Francisco or Calle Mayor, workers from these establishments and from surrounding businesses could be trained to improve their English skills. .

Another example, if it is corroborated that the largest traffic jams occur at 2:00 pm, on Tuesdays, at a specific crossing, the presence of Police at that exact moment could be intensified.
