The City Council will open two new OMITAS in Santa Ana and Vista Alegre (21/08/2018)

The City of Cartagena, through the Department of Decentralization, led by Juan Pedro Torralba, will open two new Municipal Information and Administrative Processing Offices, OMITAS, in Santa Ana, Vista Alegre, over the coming months.

An initiative that was born with the aim of "that citizens are closer to the City and do not have to travel when carrying out different administrative procedures," as the mayor said.

In addition, Torralba recalled that when the Government began its journey there were 15 OMITAS, distributed in the twelve Neighborhood Boards plus those located in Barrio Peral, La Manga and Canteras.

And it has shown that "after studying the needs of the neighbors we saw that there were many areas that were not covered, so we started the process of opening new offices", so during this term other OMITAS have been opened in Los Belones, Los Urrutias and Miranda.

As assured by the mayor of the area, Juan Pedro Torralba, "the government team has among its priorities the rapprochement and decentralization of administrative offices to neighborhoods and councils that is why we continue working so that municipal services can serve all citizens , without differentiating between neighborhood, district, center, rural or coastal "

Therefore, it is expected that in the coming months after the summer period, two more OMITAS will be opened in the neighborhoods of Santa Ana, Vista Alegre, which in principle will serve the public one day a week "complying with the demands of the neighbors who had requested the administrative services in their neighborhoods, "said the mayor of Decentralization.

Also, the City has expanded the hours of several OMITAS that have gone to offer their services five days a week - Monday to Friday - as is the case of La Manga, El Llano, Estrecho and Beal.

ALMOST 40 THOUSAND PROCEDURES IN 2017

The residents of Cartagena go to the OMITAS to perform various types of municipal administrative procedures, which in 2017 amounted to a total of 39,329.

Of them, almost half, 22,590, were related to the census, such as the change of address or the request for certificates, among others.

In addition, throughout the year 2017 decentralization offices attended 13,961 procedures related to citizen information.

On the other hand, the OMITAS that handled the most paperwork during the past year were the one located in Los Dolores, La Aljorra and Algar.

In this last case, it has even been necessary to increase the workforce to offer a quality service to the neighbors.
