The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has set up a working group whose objective is to modify the organic regulations of the Plenary Session of the City Council.
The first meeting to begin work on this matter will take place on Friday, September 7.
The meeting, which took place on the morning of this Tuesday, July 31, was chaired by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the participation of the mayor of the Sustainable Development and Public Function area, Francisco Aznar , and representatives of all political groups.
During the meeting the first steps have been made to begin with the reform of the current text that regulates the Plenary, since this regulation "was approved in a context where absolute majorities prevailed, so they did not endeavor to find formulas for participation" , said the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón.
In the same way, Castejón has indicated that the deficiencies that currently exist in the regulation of the plenary session "are susceptible to be corrected", something that all political groups have required in different initiatives.
The work table has been constituted by a representative of each political group with representation in the Plenary Session of the City of Cartagena, will be chaired by the first mayor of the consistory and will have a fortnightly periodicity, "because I want us to move forward so that what remains of Legislature, something as expected and demanded as to modify the rules to have a better functioning in the plenary session of the city council, and that provides better tools to the political groups, is carried out ".
Thus, during the meeting it was also agreed that the first meeting to begin work on this matter will take place on September 7 at 5:30 p.m.
Likewise, it has been specified that each political group can take an advisor.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, also stressed that in this commission "we will begin to amend from article 1 to 24 of the regulation, with the presence of the secretary, intervention and legal advice."
On the other hand, the councilor of the Cartagena Consistory, has also stated that in the working table for the reform of the regulation of the Plenary may appear experts in Administrative Law to intervene in some issue of a certain size and level, in which neither the advisors, nor the politicians themselves are able to resolve with solvency and guarantees when it comes to the regulatory amendment.
Finally, at the meeting held today it has also been proposed that any example of other municipalities that may serve as an example, be presented before the commission to enrich the new text.
