Cs: "the abandonment of the parks has forced some residents of Los Belones to take on the work of gardeners" (27/07/2018)

Citizens Cartagena will transfer to the local government the complaints of some residents of Los Belones about the state of abandonment and the lack of maintenance of their parks and children's areas.

"It is a serious problem that occurs both in the city center, as in districts and districts, every so often, we receive complaints and complaints from neighbors when they lose patience with the City Council for not taking care of these spaces of coexistence" , says the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín.

The last case that the Citizens Group has received has occurred in the coastal town of Los Belones, where the residents themselves have had to take on the work of gardeners to prevent the trees from drying up since, according to reports, no one frequently visits this locality to activate the key of irrigation of the parks, to cut the lawn, or to prune the bushes.

"We can not tolerate that the neighbors have to assume municipal services that are being paid with their taxes," denounces the orange spokesman.

In the case of Los Belones, some residents have reported that, in addition to the absence of the gardening service, the parks, such as the one located between Murillo Street and Avenida de La Fuente, also present an alarming lack of maintenance in their children's area. , with torn rubber tiles and swings removed, spaces that are neither safe nor pleasant.

In addition, its five lamps are not operative.

In another of the parks, which is located next to the Leonardo Da Vinci School, the banks have started and there is no lighting, which makes them impracticable when the afternoon falls.

"I do not know how many times we will have to reclaim in the Plenary the recovery and maintenance of these spaces to ensure the safety of its users and their enjoyment," says Manuel Padín, who has remembered for the umpteenth time that there is an agreement plenary session dated February 2017 for the general review of these spaces in the municipality, in order to ensure that they comply with European regulations on safety and health;

and to develop a municipal ordinance that compiles the European regulations on playground safety, including measures of accessibility and integration for those infants with mental or physical disabilities.

For Manuel Padín, "only with this revision can a prioritized public investment plan be established, we are grateful for the recent announcement to reform the children's zones of the Jéssica parks of La Manga and Carlos III, but it is not enough to do specific work, but rather We have to establish a more ambitious calendar so that in 2 years there will not be a single area as degraded as the one in Lo Belones.
