Ciudadanos promotes the creation of a park of companies linked to the sea in the Port of Cartagena (26/07/2018)

- The orange training has also made the Book Fair return to Cartagena after its disappearance in 2009, and that the Regulation of Use and Operation of Sports Facilities in the municipality be modified so that, among other things, the transfer is ordered free of the municipal spaces

The Municipal Citizens Group in Cartagena has defended three motions in today's ordinary plenary session.

Park of companies linked to the sea

Ciudadanos has asked that the Government of Cartagena work on the creation of a pole or park of companies linked to the blue economy in the Port of Cartagena.

The proposal has been approved thanks to the support of all the political groups, except CTSSP-Podemos that has voted against.

The orange spokesman explained that his group "is committed to diversify and strengthen the production model through an initiative that will urge the City Council and the regional government to work with the Port of Cartagena to get Cartagena to be the capital of companies with technological and innovative base linked to the sea ".

Manuel Padín recalled that the European Business and Innovation Center of Murcia (CEEIM) presented in February the 'E-Blue' project in Murcia, in which entrepreneurs and workers of the coastal maritime tourism sector participate and where a Living-Lab, a space to identify the challenges posed by the sector and to look for new business opportunities in this tourist, maritime and coastal sector. "" I understand that the right place for all these movements around this type of economy should be in Cartagena, and not an interior municipality, "says Padin who warns that" another solution would be to go against all logic. "

Ciudadanos has proposed that the different administrations mark a road map that allows the business concentration in the Port "to conquer a more competitive economic future".

"Every time Cartagena has looked at the sea it has gone well, we have to bet on a blue economy that respects the environment, and for the creation of the Oceanographic Institute in one of our shore batteries, this will be the definitive accolade to place Cartagena in the place it deserves. "

The orange project aims for Cartagena to focus on cities such as Liverpool, Genoa or Marseille that have already successfully embarked on this path.

The text of the motion also includes the proposal to hold a monographic session of the future Social Council of the city that addresses the opportunities to turn Cartagena into the Mediterranean capital of the blue economy.

Definition of Blue Economy

The blue economy is "the economy that recognizes and knows how to take advantage of the importance of the seas and oceans as engines of the economy because of its great potential for innovation and growth," according to the European Union definition.

According to Bernhard Friess, director of maritime affairs and fisheries of the European Union, and the Blue Growth strategy, 6 these sectors are: Renewable energy, Fisheries, Aquaculture, Tourism, Blue biotechnology, Mining of the seabed

The Book Fair returns to Cartagena

Ciudadanos has managed to recover the Book Fair of Cartagena.

The orange formation has managed to move forward unanimously his motion to re-celebrate in the city this event whose last edition took place in 2009, after 28 successful editions.

"This agreement will mean not only an impulse for local bookstores, but also a great showcase to publicize the talent of our local authors," Cs spokesman Manuel Padín said today in the plenary session.

Currently, only the 'Open Book' event was held in Cartagena, which proposes round tables, recitals and workshops;

and recently the Old Book Fair, "but a municipality like Cartagena requires a greater municipal effort", explained Manuel Padín.

"It is time to break a spear in defense of culture, the cultural industry, our bookstores and promote reading among all our neighbors, and for this, in addition to the activities already carried out, we want to install stands where publishers, distributors and other literary actors put their work within the reach of all the neighbors ", says Manuel Padín.

Ciudadanos also recalled that "in the last ordinary plenary session, their motion was unanimously approved for the restoration of the milestones or legends of the Carmen Conde literary route, the publication on the municipal website of Cartagena's literary routes, as well as the reissue of the literary guides of Cartagena so that they could be offered in the tourist offices ", remembers the orange spokesman, Manuel Padín, who assures that" until now, only the publication of the literary routes has been executed, the rest is still pending " .

Sports Regulations

Citizens has also managed to get the Plenary to back its proposal to redo the Regulation of Use and Operation of the Sports Facilities of Cartagena and the creation in less than three months of the Sports Observatory, for which the City Council is already negotiating a collaboration agreement with the UPCT and the UMU that will foreseeably close in the month of September.

Regarding the regulation, the Cs spokesman in Cartagena, said that "the process to cede the municipal sports facilities to associations and Cartagena clubs has to be done under scrupulous criteria of equity, merit and need, as is done in any other Spanish municipality. "

"The new regulation will serve to seek an orderly fit for new associations and clubs that appear in Cartagena but respecting the importance, history and tradition of those who already exist and have been promoting the Cartagena quality sport for many years," clarified Manuel Padín .

Cs has explained that in any other large city, the reservation of municipal spaces is clearly planned and ordered, with dates for the submission of applications, and with criteria and requirements, to non-profit entities that, due to their characteristics, need special promotion. or protection, "this is done in Madrid, Barcelona or Murcia, there the regulations regulate this, but not ours, the Madrid, for example, the criteria for the transfer of free space to applicants who show that they lack sports facilities adequate or sufficient for the development of their activities, are among others, the number of athletes participating in competition, the number of members, if there is promotion of women's sport and for people with disabilities, or the category and its sporting projection ".
