Manuel Padín: "Inaugurating things is useless if they are later abandoned" (14/07/2018)

In the Plenary Session, the orange training will also ask about the repair of the tiles of San Agustín Street, whose state of deterioration "may pose a serious risk to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians", advises Cs Councilor in Cartagena, Alfredo Nieto

The Municipal Group of Citizens in Cartagena will present to the next Plenary a request to the local Executive to replace and clean as soon as possible the equipment of the park for adults of the Juan XXIII Square.

"Inaugurating new spaces and facilities is useless if you do not then ensure that they will receive adequate maintenance," says the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín.

Older people form an important segment of our population, and therefore in Cartagena there is a park dedicated especially to them.

It is an exercise area with devices to promote physical activity and promote healthy habits among the elderly, and the population in general.

"The problem of this park for the elderly is the abandonment to which it is being subjected. The apparatuses that make up the exercise area are lacking in cleaning and maintenance. The parallel bars have not been replaced and other elements are missing, which offers a image of total neglect, "advises the councilman of Citizens in Cartagena, Ana Rama, who will present a plea at the next plenary asking the local government to replace the missing devices and to allocate to this park for senior cleaning and maintenance work precise.

Tiles of San Agustín

Citizens Cartagena will also take to the plenary a battery of questions about the state of deterioration of the tiles of the streets Plaza de San Agustín and San Agustín.

In this case, the damage to the pavement occurred with the construction of the Tivoli building, which occupies the block of San Agustín, Arena and Plaza del Rey streets.

The construction company placed some planks to protect the road, but the areas that were left uncovered suffered deterioration "that can pose a serious risk to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians", denounces the citizen of Cartagena, Alfredo Nieto.

Citizens will ask in the next Plenary the local Executive if it takes into account the complaints that the neighbors have raised about this situation, and if they plan to carry out some kind of action to repair the pavement of the San Agustín area.

In the Plenary, Cs Cartagena will also ask the Government if it will demand this reparation from the construction company for not adequately protecting the pavement when carrying out the work.
