MC requires the CARM more investment and transparency to serve the almost one thousand Cartagena who do not receive their recognized dependence benefit (13/07/2018)

Today, the councilor of the MC Cartagena municipal group, Francisco Calderón, has denounced the breach made by the Murcian Institute of Social Action (IMAS) of the CARM in relation to the 956 Cartageneros who, at present, are not receiving their right to benefit by dependence, despite having it recognized.

Therefore, of the 4,685 Cartagena citizens with this right, either through service or economic allocation, only 3,729 are active.

These data, in the opinion of the mayor, indicate that "in terms of dependence, statistics in our municipality is alarming, with a waiting list that almost reaches a thousand people." This causes an important loss to the recipients and their families, to see its already delicate situation worsened ".

"We speak only of the first five months of 2018," the mayor said, "with almost a thousand people waiting to exercise a right granted, we know that there are cases that, after receiving the resolution, take more than ten months and even a year in receiving the service or financial aid, time to which we must add what was already expected until the file was resolved ".

He added that "we do not know what kind of service or economic aid corresponds to that significant number of Cartagena, so we will request in the next plenary session that the IMAS be urged to inform the City Council of the type of benefits awaiting 956 Cartagena citizens." .

Then, Francisco Calderón has reported that "we want to know, in addition, the number of existing public places in dependence for our municipality."

Subsequently, it has continued to shed the content of the motion that, in addition, encourages the CARM Governing Council to request that, in the regional budgets of 2019, "the necessary budget allocation be increased to enable the increase of public places in provision of services".

This circumstance would propitiate, at the time, "the reduction of the time to receive the economic benefit, as well as the reduction of the waiting list".

To conclude, Calderón will request that, once point one of the motion is served, "this information is brought to the attention of the Municipal Groups through an Extraordinary Spokesperson's Meeting." The seriousness of the situation demands speed, efficiency and transparency.
