The Cartagena people most committed to the LGTBIQ collective during this year were recognized with the Cristina Esparza awards at the Cartagena Pride Gala.
An event in which the mayor of Culture, Education and Youth of the City of Cartagena, David Martínez Noguera, was appointed an honorary member and is framed in the activities of the EnorgulleCT 2018 program.
The seventh edition of this gala, which took place on the afternoon of Thursday, June 28, at the Casino de Cartagena, awarded the Secretariat of Equality FSC CCOO, in the category of Public Institutions;
the coordinator of neighborhoods Barriada José María de la Puerta picked up the prize in the category of social collectives.
Likewise, Cotton Grill received the award as an outstanding collaborating company;
in the category of committed journalists Nazarena Balaguer was awarded;
Alberto Sánchez, Ángel Meseguer and Manuel Lozano picked up the prize in the category of personal collaborations.
As activists of the year on this occasion, the work of Nacho Santos, Rocío Tudela and Almudena Pérez was recognized.
On the other hand, during the development of the gala, Miguel Ángel Victoria and David Martínez, mayor of the City of Cartagena, honorary members were appointed.
According to the president of the GALACTYCO collective, José María García, Martínez has received the award "in recognition of his unconditional support to the group from the beginning and his work in defense of LGTBIQ rights since he is councilor of the City of Cartagena "
This award is called Cristina Esparza, in homage to the municipal worker and promoter of numerous projects in defense of equality and human rights in Cartagena.
