The Local Government Board, meeting this morning, under the chairmanship of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has approved the purchase of land from Solvia and its resulting rights in the Hondón Partial Plan.
The operation amounting to 500,000 euros, establishes a deferred payment system, with which the City Council will pay 227,105 euros to the contract signature;
and the rest, 272,895 euros, in the first months of 2019.
With this operation, the City of Cartagena reinforces its position as majority owner of the Hondón land, which will speed up the management of the arrival of the AVE in this area and the creation of greater public spaces and facilities.
The Partial Plan of the Hondón covers an area of about 900,000 square meters.
The company Podecasa, owned 70 percent by the City Council and 30 percent by the Autonomous Community, owns 50 percent of that area.
The part that Solvia will sell to the consistory constitutes 25 percent;
while the other 25 percent is Reyal Urbis.
The Partial Plan determined the following adjudication of the buildability in the resulting plots: 42 percent for PODECASA;
22.11 percent for Solvia, which the City Council purchases;
22.11 for Reyal Urbis;
2, 33 percent for ADIF and 1.17 percent for a private individual.
The 22.11 percent purchased by the City Council in Solvia corresponds to 115,739 square meters of buildability, in which some 1,000 homes and 17,157 square meters of buildability for commercial use could be built.
Initially the decontamination of the land was going to be done through its transfer to a landfill.
This solution has been discarded so the waste (phosphogypses and pyrite ashes) must be confined in situ in the non-buildable areas, and its cost will be cheaper.
However, the land acquired from Solvia is not the most polluted in the area.
