The UPCT rewards the technological solutions of students, researchers and employees (19/06/2018)

An upward blind, a perishable goods monitoring system and a web platform for local businesses receive the awards during the I UPCT Tech & Co Day

The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) held its first Tech & Co Day this morning at its School of Telecommunications, which has brought together innovative companies, entrepreneurs and students.

During the event the finalist projects of the I Call to Solve Challenges contest for the Solvers Community of the UPCT were presented, in which students, doctoral students and Administration and Services personnel have participated, providing solutions to problems or needs detected in the environment of new emerging technologies, design, industry 4.0 and new management processes.

The winners, who have won a prize of 1,000 euros, have been the students of the School of Business Sciences Lizeth Heredia, Sergio Robles and Ani Gzirishvili who have created a web platform for online sales for small businesses in Cartagena;

the workers Donatella Rotondo and Juan Albaladejo, who have created an upward blind designed to increase privacy, light and fresh air in ground floor houses, and the researcher María Teresa Martínez, who has developed a system to monitor atmospheric conditions during the refrigerated transport of perishable goods.

The day also served for the startups of the Crowdworking Carthago program of Telefónica Open Future to present their projects and to publicize the agreement that the UPCT has signed today with the Juan Peregrín Mula Foundation to grant a scholarship to a student of the Polytechnic with a trip to the cradle of entrepreneurship in California.

In addition, Frank Escandell, CMO of Streye, the only company worldwide authorized to sell the Google Glass, has also explained today the business model of his company, sponsor of the Streye Classroom of the School of Telecommunications in which the day, inaugurated by the rector of the UPCT, Alejandro Díaz, and which was attended by the general director of Universities of the Community, Juan Monzó.
