The cante de Levante floods the patio of the old CIM in the festival'Perlas a Millares' on Friday, June 8, the patio of the Faculty of Business Sciences of the University hosted the Flamenco Week (12/06/2018)

Antonio Ayala el Rampa and Curro Piñana, accompanied by Pepe and Antonio Piñana, respectively, sang the Levante cantes: cantiñas, soleás and bulerías, before the audience that gathered at the Flamenco Festival of 'Pearls to Millares', which was celebrated on last Friday, June 8, in the courtyard of the Faculty of Business Sciences of the University (former CIM).

The Councilor for Economic Strategy of the City of Cartagena, Carmen Martín attended the gala;

the Minister of Culture, Miriam Guardiola;

the director of the Institute of Cultural Industries, Marta López-Briones;

the vice-chancellor of Campus and Sustainability of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Marcos Ros and the president of Peña Flamenca Antonio Piñana, (organizers of the festival), Miguel Angel Celdrán.

The culmination of the festival was the performance of the dance company of Truco, which visited Cartagena for the first time.

The Trick demonstrated, with its magic, a very elegant technique and its characteristic hand movement, why it is recognized as one of the best flamenco dancers of today, beating any expectation before a devoted audience that ended up standing up to the artists.

It is worth noting the rest of the components of the flamenco picture, the race of the young dancer Cristian 'EL Truco', to whom a great projection is predicted;

the flamenquísimo quejío and the duende of one of the cante goddesses for the dance, Chelo Pantoja, who has been the first cantaora with such important bailaores as El Güito, Antonio Canales, Joaquín Cortés and Sara Baras;

the virtuous sonanta, sober and measured by the guitarist Jorge Rodríguez, and the soniquetazo of the percussionist Manuel Moncada.

NATIONAL TENDER COMPETITION BY CARTAGENERAS

On Saturday, June 9, the National Contest of Cante by Cartageneras took place, which began with the Granada-born cantaora Nieves Molina, with a guajira difficult to overcome.

Then came the turn of the Cartagena singer David Contreras, 'el Cardueli', who showed off his flamencura and his very gypsy metal.

In spite of the rain the public remained to listen to the young Marian Fernández por soleá, having to stop at the beginning of the second cante due to the heavy downpour.

The contest was moved to the Isaac Peral room, in which Marian Fernández, despite the setbacks, ended her cantes.

After her, the veteran Antonio Porcuna 'El Veneno' and Evaristo Cuevas performed, demonstrating their awards in the world of flamenco, and this with a grateful and respectful audience, who enjoyed the five singers as much as possible.

After the success of the gala and the first semifinal, the second semifinal will take place this Friday, June 15, at 9:00 p.m. in the courtyard of the former CIM.

The singers José el Petro (Paterna de Rivera), Pablo Padilla (Jerez), Victor Palacios (Barcelona) Nico Pelegrín (Lorca) and Miguel Ángel Lara (Seville) will perform in this gala.

The final will take place on Saturday, June 16, at the same time and in the same place.

Collaboration 8 and 12 euros, respectively.
