The Community allocates more than 35,000 euros to the Ãngel Tomás Foundation for the attention of vulnerable groups in Cartagena (07/06/2018)

The Autonomous Community has allocated more than 35,000 euros from the 2017 IRPF campaign to develop five projects of the Fundación Iniciativa Solidaria Ángel Tomás, an association that serves about 180 people a week in Cartagena.

Among the projects they develop is the integral accompaniment of immigrants;

of socio-labor insertion of people at risk of social exclusion with the program 'Itinerarios';

the 'Shirika' program of socio-educational care for young people;

the volunteer training 'Al raso', and another to improve the quality of children's lives.

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, visited today the headquarters of the Fundación Iniciativa Solidaria Ángel Tomás, along with the director general of the entity, Ignacio Beltrán López, where he met part of the current team of the program 'Al raso', formed by 23 volunteers and 8 workers.

The purpose of the Foundation is prevention, education and comprehensive social promotion of children, adolescents, young people, women, immigrants and families from marginalized sectors or at risk of social exclusion.

It also deals with the socio-labor integration of adolescents, young people and groups at risk through social and educational development programs, occupational training and requalification of unemployed people.

They work in the Los Dolores neighborhood of Cartagena, although the participants also come from other areas such as La Aljorra, Albujón, Santa Ana, or neighborhoods such as San Antón, Mediterranean Urbanization and the old town.

The Foundation develops different actions with about 180 people per week from more than 25 nationalities.

Labor integration and volunteer training

The 'Itinerarios' project is aimed at improving the employability of people at risk of social exclusion by creating individualized itineraries through three fundamental pillars: orientation, training and employment.

This favors the acquisition of professional skills that allow labor integration, ensuring high autonomy and an adequate quality of life.

The volunteer training project aims to improve the training of people who work voluntarily in the rest of the projects of the entity, improving in parallel the quality of the general service offered by the entity.

Throughout the year different blocks of content such as migration, Culture and Religion in the world, work with people in situation or risk of social exclusion, volunteering, didactic and intervention aspects and group cohesion are worked on.
