The campaign of surveillance of pets is settled with 122 complaints from the Local Police (04/06/2018)

The Local Police of Cartagena carried out a total of 63 controls during the special monitoring campaign on the Municipal Ordinance of Tenure and Pet Care, which it carried out from May 28 to June 3.

This mixed campaign, which has counted on the action of civilian units as well as uniformed agents, has been settled with a total of 122 complaints, of which, a good part was based on not being inscribed the animal in the municipal canine census (18 ), do not have the microchip implanted (17), go without a leash (15) or not follow the compulsory vaccination calendar (13).

With respect to potentially dangerous dogs, the main complaints referred to not wearing the proper muzzle (12), lack of administrative license the owner of the dog (10) or lack of the owner of liability insurance (8).

Remember that the purpose of this action was to raise awareness among pet owners about compliance with current municipal regulations, which obliges owners to obtain their pet's health card and take it with them when they travel on public roads, as well as to inscribe them in the municipal census of pets.

Likewise, in public spaces, pets must be held by a leash, chain or collar and those classified as potentially dangerous, have the obligation to wear the muzzle corresponding to their breed and be driven with a non-extendable leash.

The law also obliges the owners to maintain the spaces in which the animals live in good cleaning conditions.

In addition, if these spaces are outside, they must be constructed with waterproof materials and avoid that pets are not exposed to the sun or rain.

In this section we must point out 4 complaints for not keeping the animals in good hygienic-sanitary conditions, and 7 for causing discomfort to the neighborhood due to lack of surveillance or control.
