Before the press release issued yesterday by the City of Cartagena in relation to the approval, by the Local Government Board, of a Strategic Sports Plan between 2018 and 2021, MC welcomes the news, since it can suppose a boost to the paralysis in sports management that has existed in Cartagena for five months.
For the responsible mayor of Sports of MC, Ricardo Segado, this is "a symptom that the situation can begin to improve." It was very necessary that this step be taken, allowing both athletes and clubs, as well as different political groups, we can contribute those ideas and that initiative that the local government does not have for the future of sport in our municipality. "
The councilor recalled that "from MC we want to contribute and we do so through motions and prayers in each and every one of the municipal Plenary, we show that we do have an ambitious and future plan and project, which would have resulted in a remarkable improvement with respect to what was before, a total reluctance and neglect on the part of the Government of the day, something that has seemed to reproduce itself with the socialist executive ".
The Government of MC, with the mayor José López at the head, laid the foundations to achieve this project, which was already taking its first and important steps:
- An ambitious plan to improve sports facilities began, creating a census or cataloging of facilities throughout the municipality to achieve a real map of needs.
- Launched the necessary provision of artificial turf on the football fields (still land) of the entire municipality.
In just two and a half years, five fields were propelled to have this equipment.
- It promoted greater transparency in this area, creating the first objective and transparent subsidies that had been given so far.
- Growing in closeness and citizen attention.
Something basic for any quality public service, thus getting to know first-hand the needs of our clubs and athletes.
Needs that were covered in a reasoned manner and according to the public resources of the City Council.
- The opening, at the end and after eleven years of waiting, of the Palacio de los Deportes has meant a before and after in the service given to Cartagena.
-Promotion and impulse of our native sports, such as the Cartagena or Caliche skittles, etc.
In short, according to Segado, "there was a plan cut in the bud in 2017 by the socialist mayor's office, something that has paralyzed sports services for several times and keeps thousands of Cartagena residents, users of these services in suspense."
Receive the clubs
