The esplanade of the pier Alfonso XII hosted on Thursday, July 24, the act of solemn lowering of the flag for the celebration of the Day of the Armed Forces 2018.
Once again, the army merged with civil society in a ceremony in which a Mixed Honors Company formed by sections of the Army, Air Force, Navy and Civil Guard, which was accompanied by the Unit Music of the Third of Levante and a Battery of Cannons of the Antiaircraft Artillery Regiment No. 73 of the Army.
The event, which was chaired by the Admiral of Maritime Action, Manuel de la Puente Mora-Figueroa, was attended by the president of the Regional Assembly, Rosa Peñalver, the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón;
the Government delegate for the Region of Murcia, Francisco Bernabé;
the president of the Port Authority, Joaquín Segado;
and the admiral of the Arsenal, Aniceto Rosique, among other authorities.
After the arrival of the Company of Mixed Honors to the esplanade of the port by the Paseo Alfonso XII the solemn lowering took place during the sunset, while the National Anthem was played accompanied by salvoes of artillery, before the presence of tourists and the curious and of the citizens and citizens of the municipality.
Once the honors were paid to the flag, it was the moment of prayer;
and after the conclusion of the act the sections accompanied by the band between military marches were withdrawn.
On Friday, May 25, several remembrance activities took place in the center of Cartagena, among which we find the flag of the Military Government with the interpretation of the National Anthem and Prayer at sunset with a commemorative concert in which the Music Unit of the Third of Levante.
