Isabel García reminds the Socialist government that it does not fulfill the mandate of the Plenary by vetoing the opposition in the Contracting Committee (23/05/2018)

The deputy speaker of the MC Cartagena municipal group, Isabel García, asked this morning why the socialist government has "failed to fulfill, once again, the mandate of the plenary session."

On this occasion, the mayor has referred to the motion approved in April to force the Socialist Party to restore participation and transparency in the Contracting Committee, giving space in it to representatives of the political groups of the opposition.

After a month and without having news about it, Garcia will ask in the next plenary the terms that the Socialist Executive manages to comply with the approved motion.

In this regard, the mayor has said that "we do not know if the Mayor's Office and the Department of Hiring have made any management to promote the modification of the Bureau and thus give entry to the representatives of the opposition, as allowed by law."

He has continued to point out that, "however, the background makes us fear that this has not been the case and that this motion sleeps in a drawer, closed and dark as the management of Castejón."

"Beyond our suspicions, we offer the benefit of the doubt to the Government of Castejón, which is that, in addition to being opaque, it has shown plenty of examples of insolvency and disability, so it is possible that either they have been forgotten, or well do not know how to do it, in both cases, I offer myself to solve these problems, "he said.

"MC will remain vigilant to demand that the local government comply with its obligations and rectify its desire to poison the public management, we will work to allow our integration in the Contracting Committee and thus restore participation and transparency, which made us a example for the rest of the municipalities of the Region while we occupy the Mayor's Office ".

MC demands the return of transparency to the Contracting Committee

The content of the motion approved last April 26, with the vote against the PSOE, requested the local Executive to accommodate the representatives of the opposition political groups in the Contracting Tables, either by modifying their composition or replacing them with the Contracting Boards, possibility allowed by the Law 9/2017, of November 8, of Contracts of the Public Sector, whose entry into force has occurred recently.

At the same time, MC has recalled the specification of the second additional provision, which contemplates the option of including in the Board staff of the Corporation or elected members of the same.

If it had been contemplated, two opposition groups could already be represented, also giving access to the head of Infrastructures.

Finally, it has been reported that section 5 of the same provision establishes the possibility of setting up the Procurement Boards that would replace the Tables.

The Governing Board would delimit the composition and characteristics of the contracts in which they would intervene.
