MC will seek the support of the Plenary to regulate civil weddings on the beaches of the municipality of Cartagena (18/05/2018)

The Municipal Group MC will present at the next Plenary a novel initiative for the local government to promote the regulation of civil weddings on the beaches of the municipality of Cartagena.

Likewise, it will request that these be declared as an 'event of local tourist interest', where the requests of the bride and groom are collected and processed by the State Coastal Demarcation, the competent body in the authorization of the use of the beaches for this purpose.

This proposal, as explained by the councilman of MC, Ricardo Segado, is a reflection of the high point that live civil marriage officiated by municipal authorities.

"The union between two people, in many cases, wants to be carried out in spectacular environments, by the sea, as is the case of the beaches of Cartagena."

In this regard, the mayor recalled that last April this issue was up to date, when an agreement was reached between the City of San Javier and the Demarcation of State Coasts, so that the first receives the requests or pertinent requests of those couples that wish to celebrate their link in a beach of their municipal district.

In this way, the riverbank Consistory will be responsible, from now on, to process such requests before this body, which will authorize the realization of weddings in the sand.

More than three million euros per year of economic impact in San Javier

With this measure it is also intended to avoid the important economic sanctions, up to 120 euros per square meter occupied and day, which until now were established,

that caused many couples to back out, seeing their dream of getting married in an idyllic environment frustrated.

In addition, Ricardo Segado explained that the economic impact of these events today contributes more than three million euros a year to San Javier, where around 150 weddings are celebrated each year.

"Therefore, and in view of the legal coverage provided by the authorization of Costas, issued by the City Council, the impact is expected to be much greater, something that will have a positive effect on the economy and employment of the municipality."

Meeting with HOSTECAR

With the aim of making progress on this proposal, the MC Municipal Group recently met with representatives of the Hospitality Industry of Cartagena and Comarca (HOSTECAR), during which this issue was discussed and the example of San Javier.

Similarly, the councilor of the Cartagena training has valued this collaboration between administrations as "very beneficial", as it will bring significant improvements at all levels.

Finally, Segado stressed that "within the municipality of Cartagena there are dozens of kilometers of coastline and beach, with beautiful landscapes and landscapes." Desired by many couples to immortalize one of the most important moments of their lives. for its economic and tourist interest, since there are many couples who come from other municipalities, regions or even countries to marry, a determining factor to achieve this goal ".
