Inaugurated the first 24-hour study room in El Algar (12/05/2018)

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, inaugurated the afternoon of Friday, May 11, in El Algar, the first municipal study room that will be open 24 hours a day.

It is an installation of 37 square meters and with capacity for 18 study places that has been enabled within the social premises of this deputation.

"The intention of this government team is that this is the first of a complete network of municipal study rooms, with which we want to cover a need that has been repeatedly transferred to us by the residents of Cartagena," said the mayor.

The event was attended by the councilors of Public Services and Participation and Education, Culture and Youth of the socialist municipal government, Juan Pedro Torralba and David Martínez, respectively, along with the spokespersons of Ciudadanos, Manuel Padín, and CTSSP, Pilar Marcos, and the Popular Party councilor, Diego Ortega, in addition to the president of the Neighborhood Board, Francisca Martinez.

The room has an independent access that will be made by a card provided by the City Council, upon request of the user, and whose use is personal and non-transferable.

To guarantee security, it is equipped with a video surveillance system connected to the Local Police, in addition to the aforementioned installation of access control to the building.

All the electrical installation, both emergency lights and lighting screens, are Led, to meet the established criteria of energy efficiency, also has a ramp in the external access so it also complies with the accessibility regulations.

The classroom is connected to the municipal Wi-Fi network and has been fully equipped with furniture and air conditioning.

The information regarding the access and use of the room will be published on the municipal website www.cartagena.es from today, as well as the instructions to connect to the Wi-Fi network.

The processing of the user card is done through the Department of Education or OMITA of El Algar.

In principle, 50 access cards will be granted to the classroom, but they can be extended according to demand.

Once available, users will receive authorization, either via email or SMS.

The works of adaptation of the classroom of study have supposed an investment of 17,400 euros.
