This non-profit association, whose headquarters are located on Calle Carlos III, was born in 2007 with the aim of assisting, advising and improving the quality of life of people suffering from a personality disorder and their family environment.

After more than ten years of work, today they serve almost 200 people annually, and among their medium-term plans is to extend their area of action to all the municipalities of the Comarca of Cartagena.

In addition to information and professional advice, this association offers its users and partners an initial assessment totally free, psychoeducation sessions for those affected by TP and their families, individual and family psychology therapies, career counseling, music therapy workshops, or classes to strengthen social and work skills, among other services.

According to the president of the Association, one of the main challenges they have to face is still to inform society and public administrations about the importance of personality disorder and they estimate that only in the region of Cartagena there would be about 7,600 affected people, being the Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) the most common and aggressive.

For his part, the spokesman for the orange training, Manuel Padín, explained that "the personality disorder is still a great unknown, and I am sure that many people are suffering a real hell without knowing that they are suffering from a disease that has treatment and cure. "

"Although the studies on this disease are relatively new and progress is made every year in their identification, definition and response, it is known for example that the BPD includes a picture of emotional hypersensitivity in interpersonal relationships, a daily and radical affective instability, and impulsive and aggressive behaviors that in the worst cases can lead to depression, self-injury, and suicide attempt, "said the orange spokesman who believes that" we have a very delicate mental illness, little known, that breaks families, couples, and labor relations, and public administrations have an obligation to provide all possible help to these people and their families. "

This association has transferred to the Municipal Citizens Group the need to have more economic resources to be able to provide their services, and the cession of municipal spaces.

In this sense, they have recalled the commitment of the previous government coalition of PSOE and MC to convert the old Colegio Antonio Arévalo into a sociocultural center.

For his part, Manuel Padín, has announced that his group will take to the next ordinary plenary a battery of questions to clarify what has happened with this plan of the local government and if there are possibilities of rescuing it.

In addition, they consider that the Murcian Health Service, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Health, should undertake as soon as possible the writing of a Personality Disorder Guideline aimed at professionals of the health system of the Region of Murcia.

Many users who have attended this association have confessed to feeling misunderstood when they have gone to a health center and believe that this clinical practice guide would be a valuable instrument to improve professional performance before a person affected by this disorder.

The spokesman for Citizens has committed to studying all these demands and to work, together with his Parliamentary Group, to satisfy all of them as far as possible.
