The night race Arx Asdrubalis travels the most emblematic archaeological sites of Cartagena (10/05/2018)

The festive half-year activities organized by the Federation of Carthaginians and Romans, in collaboration with the City of Cartagena, brings, for the second year in a row, the Arx Asdrubalis night race, which will take place this Saturday, May 12.

The benefits obtained from this race will be donated to the Spanish Association Against Cancer and the Little Sisters of the Poor of Cartagena.

To offer all the details of the event, the Councilor of Sports of the City of Cartagena, Obdulia Gómez, appeared before the media;

the general director of Sports of the Region of Murcia, Alonso Gómez;

the Coordinator of Sports and Parades of the Federation of Carthaginians and Romans, Mariano Pérez and the President of the Federation of Troops and Legions, José Antonio Meca.

The Arx Asdrubalis nocturnal archaeological race, which will tour the old town of Cartagena, offers several ways to carry it out.

For the youngest warriors, a 2-kilometer route has been established, which will depart at 20:00 hours from Plaza San Francisco.

For the experienced runners, a route of 10 km has been planned, which will pass through the most emblematic archaeological sites of the municipality, such as the Cerro de San José, the Molinete, Monte Sacro and Castillo de la Concepción. "The objective is to publicize the Cartagena's rich heritage, in addition to helping society with its strong solidarity "in the words of the mayor of Sports, Obdulia Gómez.

The starting signal for this race will be heard at 9:21 pm, the exact moment when it gets dark.

In addition, this year, as a novelty, it has also been scheduled a hiking route that will take place at 10:00 am, leaving and finishing at Plaza San Francisco, as the rest of the modalities of this race.

The current edition of the night race Arx Asdrubalis has beaten record of participated with respect to the past year.

At the end of the registration period, on May 9, more than 800 participants were counted, as opposed to the 620 runners who participated in the first edition.

Throughout the day there are programmed children's games such as archery and sling, chess, as well as a drawing contest and the presentation of children's characters.

At 6:00 pm the activities will continue with a Zumba exhibition, and it will start at 8:15 p.m. when the "Guateque" group concert begins.

To end the day will be delivery of trophies, which will be held at 23:00 in the Plaza San Francisco, location in which all the activities of the event will happen.

In this regard has been pronounced the president of the Federation of Troops and Legions, Jose Antonio Meca, who has ensured that, with the intention of respecting the rest of the residents of the Plaza San Francisco, have met personally with them to present this programming and have limited concert hours to ensure everyone's rest.

The activities to celebrate the festive half-year continue throughout the week, from May 14 to 19, with several talks and lectures given by historians and criminologists from different parts of the country.

The Night of the Museums, which is celebrated on Saturday, May 19, will also host several activities programmed by Carthaginians and Romans.

In the Explanada del Puerto 25 tents will be installed in which the activities will take place, from 11:00 am.

In addition, as the culmination of the festive mid-year, during the day the poster of Carthaginians and Romans this year will be presented.
