Cs asks the Port Authority to accelerate the previous procedures to decontaminate the old lands of Peñarroya (09/05/2018)

- "We have asked him to do everything in his power to get the regional government to execute this year the amendment of Citizens for the transfer of the Deposit Franco to Los Camachos," said Padin

The spokesman of the Municipal Group of Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, has demanded more investments from the Port Authority so that they can benefit Cartagena and its Region.

The orange spokesman made this request during his first official meeting with the new president of this organization, Joaquín Segado.

Among the main issues discussed have been the upcoming plans for the decontamination of the former Peñarroya lands in Santa Lucía, the deadlines for completing the Camarillas variant, and the Benipa's baipas, the participation of the Port Authority in the project of the Zone of Logistics Activities in Los Camachos, the imminent tender for the remodeling of the commercial building, and the possible uses of the esplanade of the Port.

As for the work to remove the industrial waste generated by the lead smelter, the spokesman for Citizens has informed that "we have confirmed, without a doubt, that the Port Authority will be in charge of carrying out these actions, but that it must be done beforehand. a study for the characterization of the soil, assess the degree of contamination, and clarify the uses that can be given to that plot ".

On the other hand, the orange spokesman has informed Segado that his Parliamentary Group is preparing a battery of questions to the Minister of Environment to clarify the deadlines of all these studies, and an approximate date of the work of execution, "we also want to clarify why the previous direction of the Authority concealed for eight months, the public opinion and the Ministry of Environment, a final ruling that clarifies that the ownership of the land is the port agency, and that they are therefore those who have to do the work. "

Another of the topics discussed has to do with the published information that the Port Authority will invest in the railway variant and the burial in Alcantarilla, "Mr. Segado has clarified that this is just another study among the many that are carried out in all of Spain to detect the bottlenecks for the transport of goods, but that no investment is planned or announced, "said Manuel Padín.

On the other hand, the spokesman of Cs demanded the president of the Port Authority to do everything in his power so that the regional government executes this year the amendment of Citizens for the transfer of the Deposit Franco to Los Camachos, cornerstone on the one that will pivot the whole logistics area.

Variant of Camarillas

The Minister of Development, Ãñigo de la Serna, said in his last visit to Cartagena, that the completion of the Camarillas variant to promote the transport of goods in the Region of Murcia, and in particular the Port of Cartagena could be in evidence to end of the year.

Despite this announcement, Manuel Padín has expressed concern that the section of Hellín is being complicated by the adaptation to the new security regulations of the tunnels that have forced to prolong the evacuation corridors in both mouths.

The president of the Port Authority was confident that the deadlines set by the minister will be met.

As for the Benipa baipas through which Cartagena will connect with the Mediterranean Corridor without entering Murcia, the commitment of the central government for the adaptation of the railway line and its financing in 2019 is maintained, after the project was recently tendered.

Commercial building

The spokesman for Citizens has also been interested in knowing the reasons why the reform of the commercial and hotel building of the Alfonso XII Pier is being delayed.

The port president has ensured that the tender is imminent and that for it has been reserved about one and a half million euros to do the works that could begin before two months.

Both Joaquin Segado and Manuel Padin have agreed to see this reform, along with the imminent creation of a gastrobar or gastronomic market in the former headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena, as a unique opportunity to boost the commercial, hospitality and economic activity of the area and generate jobs.
