The Demarcation of Coasts brings to public information the creation of a municipal canine beach between Isla Plana and San Gines (04/05/2018)

The State Coastal Demarcation has released to public information the creation of a municipal canine beach in the area of Calera, between Isla Plana and San Ginés.

The file promoted by the Department of Quality of Life and Welfare, which directs the councilor Obdulia Gómez, has as its object the concession to the town hall of a coastline of about 160 meters in length and about 7,000 square meters of beach surface so that citizens can be and bathe with their pets.

This is the only one of the four proposed by Councilor Obdulia Gómez, on the Cartagena coast, which has been admitted by the regional administration.

The others were located in an area of the La Manga Nursery, which has been rejected by Sanidad as it is considered the usual bathing area, and in the Ramblas of Cobaticas (Calblanque) and Lo Poyo (Mar Menor) that have been dismissed by Environment, when placed in protected natural spaces.

The public exposure period that begins today Friday, will be 20 working days, so as noted by the councilor, the file could be completed throughout the month of June, and the beach become operational in the month of July.

For this the City plans to invest about 3,000 euros, for the placement of three signs on the road that indicate the access and location of the canine space;

and three others on the beach with the rules of use.

There will also be some litter bins and several bag dispensers for the collection of pet waste, since according to Obdulia Gómez, the owners must observe behavioral norms and must keep subjects and muzzles with dangerous breeds. .

The Calera beach is a naturally secluded beach accessed by the blue path from Ermita to Ermita that links Isla Plana and La Azohía, which, according to the councilor, meets the optimum conditions for this type of use.

CANINE PARKS AND AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS

The councilor also referred to the Parque de la Rosa Canine Park, which is currently finished and which is awaiting the awarding of the maintenance service for Parks and Gardens for its commissioning.

It is a fenced space of about 3,000 square meters in the vicinity of the park where pets can be loose and run, always under the supervision of their owners.

The councilor has ensured that other spaces are being studied in parks and public areas that can adapt to this use.

Finally, he announced that this summer a new citizen awareness campaign will be launched to promote responsible ownership, avoiding the abandonment of pets and facilitating the vaccination and identification of companion animals.
