The City Council defends the Technical Commission of the High Speed Society that the AVE arrives buried in Cartagena (04/05/2018)

The Town Planning Councilor, Francisco Aznar, met Friday with the new Minister of Development, Patricio Valverde, to try to unlock three important issues for the municipality of Cartagena, such as the ZAL, the Transitory Rules and the arrival of the AVE.

The meeting was also attended by the presidents of the COEC, the Chamber of Commerce and the Port Authority.

During the meeting, the mayor has reiterated the position that has been defending the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, that the arrival of the AVE can not weigh the development of the Port, nor can mortgage the expansion of the city.

"In the Technical Commission of the High Speed Society, which will be held on May 11 in Madrid, the position of the City Council will be very clear.

In the same way that the Ministry has opted for the burial in Murcia and Lorca must do so in Cartagena.

On the other hand, I recalled that for us the third thread is insufficient, since it deprives us of connecting the municipality with the Cercanías network and can condition in the medium term the development of freight traffic that our Port needs, "he explained.

As for the Transitory Rules, Francisco Aznar has urged the Minister of Development to resolve, as soon as possible, the allegations raised to the object that they can take effect in the shortest possible time.

"The work that the City Council had to do in this matter is finished, now it is the Ministry that must finish theirs so that our city can continue to advance.

We hope that the commitment that the counselor expressed today that they are resolved in 15 days is fulfilled.

As soon as this is the case, the City Council will once again submit them to the decision of the Plenary so that, once they are approved, they will be endorsed by the Governing Council of the Autonomous Community and may come into force, "said the councilor.

Logistics Action Area in Los Camachos

The delays that accumulate the implementation of the ZAL of Los Camachos have aroused the concern of both the businessmen and the mayor of Urbanism, who stressed that "from the City we are committed to streamline all procedures that depend on us to that the transfer of the Franco Warehouse and the Transport City become a reality, as soon as the Autonomous Community makes the land available to the business fabric of Cartagena ".
