An ephemeral intervention of Architecture students of the UPCT, selected in the prestigious FAD Awards (01/05/2018)

The spectacular installation made by students of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) in the administrative building of San Miguel to exhibit their urban projects has been recognized as one of the works selected in the prestigious FAD Architecture Awards, in the peninsula.

Collective exhibition of urban projects', carried out by Benito García-Legaz García, Cristina Martínez Morales, Francisco Navarro Pardo, Pedro José Sánchez Pérez, Carmen Tamboleo López-Brea and Andrés Viedma Guiard is one of the 19 architectural works selected from among the 74 works presented in the Ephemeral Interventions category, in which only five proposals have been finalists.

An explosion of color and joy, inspired by the appointment of Einstein 'creativity is intelligence having fun, flooded last summer the courtyard of the administrative building San Miguel.

Students of the School of Architecture and Building mounted an impressive exhibition with models, sheets and documents of various subjects in which Cartagena was redesigned with proposals such as reforming the bus station, creating a performing arts center, remodeling the building of the FEVE and the accesses to Los Mateos.

The exhibition, designed and manufactured by the students themselves, showed a selection of works by students of the School.

The examples that are collected belong to three subjects that are taught in the degree of Architecture (Projects 7, Management of Professional Processes and Territorial Planning) and a subject of the Master's Degree in Heritage (Heritage Documentation).

The design of the exhibition responds to an exercise proposed in the form of a competition among 4th-year students, in which teams of students have offered an exhibition proposal.

The winning project team was in charge of directing the production of the exhibition, distributing tasks among the rest of their classmates and coordinating the assembly.

In total, more than two hundred people collaborated in the assembly of the exhibition.

The teachers who supervised the exhibition were Patricia Reus and Jaume Blancafort, winner of the FAD Awards in the category of ephemeral interventions in the 1998 and 2000 editions.
