More than 500 students visit the Energy Plaza (28/05/2010)

Around 500 students of Cartagena learn what energy is, how it is generated, how many sources there are and everything we want to do with it, as well as the effects of misuse of power can have on the environment.

All this and much more is what are the elementary students when they visit the Energy Plaza, located in Cavite Heroes, an educational initiative of Caja Mediterráneo (CAM), which seeks through games teach children to different sources energy, to differentiate between renewable and no longer know how it works, while instilling a critical knowledge on the importance of energy conservation and efficiency.

The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro and territorial president of the Caja Mediterráneo, Ã ngel Martínez, this morning visited the Mediterranean Fund activity.

Martinez explained that this activity serves to make children aware of the importance of energy in daily life and their rational use is essential to enjoy it longer and better impact on the environment.

Furthermore, she added that this initiative also explains the importance of using energy from renewable sources like sun and wind.

Barreiro added that this initiative undertaken by the CAM, is a very important for young people to learn to use different energy sources, which are mostly unknown.

The energy Plaza consists of several tents, inspired by the appearance of igloos and polar regions each showing a scene with a different theme, where in the last three days the students have had the opportunity to have a practical Know-world energy.
