Cartagena celebrates its scientific and research favorite (23/04/2010)

Macero, police gala corporate medals and a formal label, have this afternoon a letter of solemnity to the delivery of the title of Favourite Daughter of Cartagena to the scientific and research, María Cascales Narrow.

The plenary hall of the Town Hall was the venue where he has held this moving tribute to the first woman, who along with Carmen Conde, also Cartagena and favorite daughter, "he joined in 1987 by a Royal Academy.

The mayor has broken in his speech the many merits of Dr. Cascales, born in Cartagena in August 1934, daughter of a naval engineer company and a shipbuilding Cartagena: Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Madrid and Specialist Clinical Biochemistry, director of the CSIC Institute of Biochemistry and Department of Biochemical Pharmacology and Toxicology Institute of Biochemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Madrid, academic numbers in the Royal Academy of Pharmacy and Doctors of Spain's formal National Pharmacy of Peru, Mexico and Chile, and the Academy of Medicine and Surgery, Murcia.

Among his many awards and honors include the Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise, the Gold Medal for Merit in Work, Doctoral Gold Medal of the Royal Academy of Doctors and the Gold Medal of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Complutense University of Madrid.

Is an honorary Doctor of Scientific Research Center and Doctor Honoris Causa from the UNED.

Thousands of researchers have learned and continue learning from it through more than 170 publications, through coordinated monographs and books he has written.

He has directed some thirty doctoral dissertations and master degree, thus ensuring continuity of valuable lines of research.

The relative merits of the mayor, have been corroborated by numerous accessions received during the pendency of the case, and the unanimity of the municipal political parties in the concession agreement, read by the secretary general, Ines Castillo.

In his address, María Cascales had words of thanks to all who have supported the granting of this title, the most important thing you have been granted in its long history and has been reviewed for friends outside of Cartagena that have accompanied the act, the history of this city that was proud to be born.

He also recalled his childhood home, located in Garden City, Trafalgar street and his family and his twelve brothers.

New Favourite Daughter of Cartagena has ended by noting that today is a contributor to everything that involves the recognition and enhancement of this wonderful corner of our Spain where I had the luck to be born, a piece of our land that unites the warmth a clear sun and the immense blue of the Mediterranean.

María Cascales has joined the list of Beloved Sons who have excelled in the field of science and the humanities, as has previously been the writer or lawyer Carmen Conde Manuel Albaladejo, a title which is the highest distinction awarded by the City Council people born in Cartagena who have outstanding work beyond our borders.
