Kiko Amat and Cesar Award winning Mallorquí Mandarache / Hache 2010 (21/04/2010)

Rompepistas (Anagram, 2009) Kiko Amat has finally lifted the prize V Mandarache after one of its most hotly contested voting, where only 20 votes separated him from another of the finalists: Taste of Chocolate (Punto de Lectura, 2008) Jose Carlos Carmona.

In the case of Hache Award (the mode of juvenile literature), secret Calligraphy (SM, 2007) was the most voted by the hundreds of teenagers who serve as jurors.

The jury Mandarache 2010 is composed of nearly 2,000 young people between 15 and 30 years and Hache Award for more than 1,000 adolescents between 12 and 14.

Since September 2009 these thousands of readers (high school students, college students, youth associations and registered for free) have read and discussed novels that provided them free the city of Cartagena and were able to meet the three authors finalists for each award talk to them, ask questions and share your impressions before the time came to vote.

A reader, one vote.

Each participant votes the book that he liked.

The results of voting, which is made through the official website of the project between 12 and 15 April, has been unveiled to the press by a group of students from the IES Isaac Peral de Cartagena, accompanied by Youth Councillor Ruth María Collado González.

Category awards have a prize of 3,000 euros respectively unaescultura Angel Haro, and will be delivered by the Mayor of Cartagena to the winning writers on Friday 14 May in the Nuevo Teatro Circo Cartagena, in a ceremony led by Soriano and Luisma Nieves Pérez Abad.

During the awards ceremony will be unveiled the finalists for the next edition.

Mandarache prize is an original strategy to promote reading among young people created by the Youth Council of the City of Cartagena and public libraries and developed from the work of an advocacy group that integrates the efforts of teachers, booksellers, publishers , neighborhood associations, libraries, youth clubs and young players and that is producing excellent results in their quest to create new young readers.

Mandarache program has become in just six years in one of the models to promote innovative and effective reading of Spain.
