Complete work on the third lane at the entrance to Cartagena (09/03/2010)

State investment amounts to EUR 1,769,100

The deadline is met and the works will be on duty at Easter.

In the coming days for completion of works of the proposed extension of third rail at the entrance to Cartagena, particularly in the section from the link on the A-30 and the road to La Manga, at kilometer 190, to the link access to the Port of Cartagena is located at km 192.

For this reason, the government delegate in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, and chief engineer of the State Highway Demarcation, Angel García Garay, this morning visited the works, in which the Ministry of Public Works has invested 1,769,100 euros.

The works have included the expansion of roads outside the trunk of the A-30 between pp.kk.

190 and 192 to three lanes in each direction, and the extension to two lanes of the entry ramp to the motorway to Cartagena from La Manga.

González Tovar noted that increasing the capacity of the road was intended to solve major problems of congestion at peak hours and in summer a section with a daily average of 35,946 vehicles, of which 4 per cent were heavy vehicles.

These works will also improve road safety in the area, in which the last three years had decreased due to accidents has also conducted special surveillance of the stage, an intensification of ordinary maintenance and strengthening horizontal and vertical signaling.

Moreover, this performance is delivering smooth ramp access to Cartagena from La Manga, from which there is the entrance to the Mediterranean Park Shopping Center, the branch going to have 2 lanes and a length of braided top the currently existing.

The works are in the final phase, which will be completed within the period announced, that is, before Easter.

At the moment it is carrying out the extension of the wearing course and subsequent repainting of road markings.

The road surface used (micro agglomerate) is characterized by preventing hydroplaning because it absorbs and removes water from the pavement surface in case of rain, to provide good grip tire-pavement, and reduce the noise produced by the traffic with respect to a conventional rolling.

So that the condition for road users during the execution of the work of this last phase of work is minimal, asphalting work will be performed at night.

Prior to the commencement of work, there will be a by-pass traffic from one to another roadway to allow two agglomerated micro machines work "in parallel" and intensively during the night in the entire section of the road, reducing total period of performance and also avoiding the formation of joints in the roadway.

This work, for which Bay is necessary to conduct a traffic-pass will be announced beforehand in the press and made known to the local police.

Finally, the government delegate stressed that this action is encompassed in proceedings for road safety, maintenance of roads and winter maintenance actions that the Government of Spain carried out on the roads of the State and in 2009 represented an investment more than 84 million euros.

Technical features of the project:

1 .- Right Calzada (sense Murcia-Cartagena)

The expansion of the roadways of the A-30 was made on the outside, although in some cases have used the medium to better utilize the available width on existing structures, as has happened in the middle section between pp. kk.

191.600 to 191.800.

Has also been expanded to two lanes the Cartagena branch of incorporation into the A-30 located in the pk 190.470, from La Manga on Highway CT-32, with a total length of 1,000 m. expansion

Similarly, extending the acceleration lane access to the A-30 from the Mediterranean in the pk Park 191.250.

2 .- Calzada left (Cartagena-Murcia):

He joins the entry lane from the highway from the Santa Lucia Road CT-33, with output to the Mediterranean between pp.kk. Park

191.800 to 191.250.

In this way we construct a braided rail access for easy movement to the highway.

It also repeats the action of connecting the input to the A-30 from the Mediterranean Park exit to La Manga on Highway toward CT-32 and Highway Escombreras by CT-34, creating a second tarmo stranded between pp.kk.

191.880 to 190.250.

With respect to the longitudinal drainage, there has been channeling a covered drainage channel located on the right bank between pp.kk.

191.160 and 191, 365, and the extension of existing cross drainage works.

The performance ends with the replacement of road marking paint, hot thermoplastic, with ridges on the edges of the roadway to alert drivers of possible off the road, and fits the existing signage on porches and banners to coordinate with the redrawing of access to Cartagena.
