The Bun Museum of La Palma begins a new journey (05/03/2010)

The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, visited the new Museum of Ethnography of La Palma on the occasion of its official opening next Sunday, March 7, by the Association of Bolillo Lacemakers of La Palma to coincide with the celebration of the thirteenth edition its traditional Lacemakers Regional Meeting of Bun.

Located on Calle Alberto Colao, 19, is a building for social and cultural facilities, which, in addition to the Museum offers a permanent exhibition of work roll, houses the headquarters of the Association of Women of La Palma.

Its construction has cost about 384,000 euros, funded through E. Plan

During his visit the Mayor highlighted the wide cultural and artisan tradition which holds the council of Cartagena, which is a clear demonstration of this museum to be found about 600 pieces, some of them in 1832, with significant representations of Belgian lace, French, Galician and Catalan, in addition to the typical popular lace are made in our area.

Barreiro also noted that with this new building the museum no longer be provisional, abandoning their former headquarters in a private house.

XIII MEETING OF BOBBIN Lacemaker

On Sunday March 7 will be held in La Palma traditional bobbin lacemakers Meeting this year celebrates its thirteenth edition with a time of fellowship for people who share this hobby craft.

This year the meeting will be attended by some 600 lace makers from cities around the country, such as Palma de Mallorca, Almeria, Huelva, Albacete and Alicante, and changes of location and moved to a warehouse donated by a private industrial estate opposite the La Palma, in the exit Cabo de Palos.
