The Ministry of Science and Innovation funds of 2,700,000 euros over twenty research projects of the UPCT (12/02/2010)

The Technical University of Cartagena is currently developing in collaboration with different companies a total of twenty research programs funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

Together, these projects have received direct subsidies amounting to more than 2,700,000 euros.

Innovation Secretary General of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, Juan Tomás Hernani, made today a visit to the Polytechnic University where he has had the opportunity to attend the presentation in the School of Telecommunications Engineering from one of these projects, namely the holding of the Group University Aquiline.

Juan Tomás Hernani UPCT underlined that works precisely in research areas that are critical to the economic development model, which gives it a great value.

"These research programs have as their main purpose to improve the competitiveness of companies with which the University collaborates" in the words of the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Felix Faure.

Projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation cover a significant range from energy production to robotics, as well as sectors of the food industry, agricultural production and information technology and communications.

Félix Faure Rector added that UPCT "is a Spanish universities more competitive when seeking external financing for R & D + I".

A report by the Foundation for Knowledge and Development puts it in fifth place for obtaining private funding on its own resources.

Also ranks among the ten universities with the highest competitiveness index, which takes into account the funds raised by national teacher calls for R & D.

"In many of these projects assist students in their final years and recent graduates of the UPCT, helping to improve training in advanced technologies and, therefore, the career prospects of graduates of this university," stated the Vice President for Research and Innovation, José Antonio Franco.
