The Community built in Cartagena, a new institute to replace the 'Antonio Arévalo' (04/02/2010)

Education, with support from the most representative trade unions, has agreed to replace the center, which currently holds 46 students, to create more school places in the area

The Minister of Education, Training and Employment, Constantine Sotoca, announced today that "the Ministry built in Cartagena a new Secondary School to replace the existing Infant and Primary School 'Antonio Arévalo,'" as agreed yesterday meeting with the unions.

Sotoca explained that the current situation of the center, where 46 students enrolled, and the need to increase secondary school places in the area have made that "this decision is more correct, it would not be possible to build the new center, which requires 19,000 square meters, without the removal of the existing school, which occupies about 12,000 square meters. "

The adviser said that "Antonio Arévalo College students will have preference in the schooling process priority for 2010-2011 and elect the center chosen in the first option for the parents."

In addition, the Ministry has committed, if it is necessary to provide human and material resources to schools which accept pupils following the closure of the school.

Also, Sotoca noted that the construction of the new Secondary School will be incorporated into the network of 2011 a new school with 16 classrooms on Secondary Education and Bachelor six of which will increase by more than 659 squares of the Cartagena area .
