Public Works awarded the contract to improve access to Escombreras (12/12/2009)

The works will improve access to both the refinery as the tailings railway station, which runs parallel to the way RM-322

The Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Directorate General of Highways has awarded the contract for the construction of a roundabout and pavement strengthening of roads RM-320 (Escombreras to Portman Road) and RM-322 (RM-320 of the tailings station), a performance that will improve access to the Repsol refinery in tailings (Cartagena).

The works, which will begin over the coming weeks, including the construction of a roundabout at the junction of two roads, which intersect the solution to a conflict, increase driver safety, especially for workers who come daily to the core industrial, and faciilitar access to the various industries in the area.

The project also envisages the strengthening of the firm of RM-320, which goes Escombreras road to Portman Road, which connects with the RM-322, which gives access to both the refinery and a railway station of tailings, which runs parallel to the track.

Both pathways are characterized by high heavy vehicle traffic, so it's a performance that will go down the road transport professionals.

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, said that this action, whose budget exceeds € 675,000, "contribute to economic and industrial development of the region, enabling improved communications, increase security and provide more which were provided for access to the industrial core. "

This project is included within the Action Plan in the Valley of tailings that the regional government launched a year ago.
