The Delegation of the Government demolished the old houses of the engineers of port (11/12/2009)

The Delegation of the Government has begun the demolition of the building that occupied the former homes of the engineers of the Board of Harbor Works in the spring of Alfonso XIII, next to Casa del Mar. The City of Cartagena had reiterated on several occasions that adoption of a resolution by state officials in the Community to address the advanced deterioration of this building, frequented by the homeless and had been out of town planning.

The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, along with Deputy Mayor, Agustín Guillén, has checked on site this morning the demolition, which will last for several days.

As you will recall the delegation of the Government tried to install in the same place a few months ago a foreign office, what he had to withdraw because it was a zonacalificada as green in the General Plan and affected by the environment of the Wall BIC Sea, and to re-build a building this site was necessary to initiate a cumbersome process of urban development.

In return, the City Council then offered some land in elCC1 towns located along the Mall Mandarache where to house the future City of Justice and the Plaza de Toros Multipurpose, which failed to accept the delegation.
