The SIVE detects the presence of two small boats near the coast of Cartagena (25/11/2009)

A total of 18 immigrants of Algerian origin, who were trying to reach Spain irregularly, were apprehended yesterday by a Civil Guard patrol boat, being moved to land made available to the National Police.

The presence of the two vessels was detected in the afternoon yesterday by the Integrated External Surveillance (SIVE), when those were about 18 miles (33.3 kilometers) from Mount of the Ashes, so that immediately transfer to a patrol area of the Maritime Service of the Guardia Civil.

The two boats were intercepted about 15 miles from the coast, they sailed very close to each other and towards the Spanish coast.

On board each of them traveled nine people, all males, in apparent good health and seniors.

The immigrants were transshipped to a coastguard boat, traveling to such effect that I took them, escorted by the Guardia Civil to the port of Cartagena, where those receiving health care of the Red Cross, being made available later the National Police for processing the files back to their country of origin.

The two boats carrying the immigrants were from fiber and were about five meters long, being appointed one with a 30 hp engine.

And the other, with a 25.
