The Secretary of State for Defence, Constantino Mendez, the Rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Felix Faure and President of the Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, presided over the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Faculty of Business Sciences in the former premises of the Headquarters of Seamanship Instruction.

The Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Defence, the Autonomous Community of Murcia and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, which was ceded to the former barracks University was signed on May 10, 2005.

Previously, the Rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Felix Faure and the Secretary of State for Defence has concluded the acquisition agreement by the University of the grounds of the Military Club "Santiago."

That convention culminates with the commitment made by the Ministry of Defence to the University by the protocol signed on May 24, 2007.

Former Military Club "Santiago" thus becomes a complex university, sports and services.

Both events will form part of the actions carried out by the Ministry of Defence aimed at facilitating social infrastructure applications are no longer relevant to the defense.
