A dozen students from five countries visit Cartagena Comenius Project (16/11/2009)

The Mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, along with the councilman of Youth, Ruth Maria Collado and Education, Joseph Marotta, met today with 18 students and 16 teachers from Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Lithuania and France who visited the Palace Hall accompanied by 18 students and 8 teachers from IES El Bohio, which has welcomed and encouraged them to know our rich archaeological heritage, such as respect for the cultures that have passed through our city throughout history.

They are students of the Career Center High School of Mechanical Engineering Professor Tzvetan Lazarav of Plovdiv, Bulgaria; LYCÉE De La Mediterranee La Ciotat (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur), France; Panevezys Panevezys Juozas BALCIKONIS GYMNASIUM (PANEV) , Lithuania; prywatna I Liceum Gimnazjum Piaseczno (Mazowieckie), Poland, and COLEGIUL NATIONAL "NICOLAE Balcescu 'Braila (Braila), Romania.

Students and teachers, who arrived Saturday in our city remain there until 21 November.

This is the first meeting of the European project Comenius 'Everybody fits in', which began on September 1, 2009 and ending on August 31, 2011.

The aim is to increase the sense of European citizenship, not only in youth but throughout the educational community.

This requires knowing the culture, social, and educational systems of each country, breaking stereotypes and prejudices that may exist to create links between everyone.

Is essential to encourage personal and emotional relationships between the participants than an idea but a reality.

The interdisciplinary project allows it to be worked from all areas of the curriculum, which promotes the involvement of all teachers.

It will work at the center and between centers.

The Comenius project is part of the Educational Project IES El Bohio and has an important role in the development of human values in the educational community, increasing respect and acceptance of difference and appreciation of cultural diversity as a benefit for all.

Involved 38 teachers of the faculty, working within the curriculum of our courses with groups of all levels of education: secondary school and training cycles.

There are works in each of the individual centers and partnerships, all aimed at increasing the sense of European citizenship.

Thus, visitors will learn our rich archaeological heritage (Roman Theatre, Archaeological Museum with the attractive exhibition 'Faces of Rome'), Palace Hall, Arqua, Park Towers, Shelters, Fuerte de Navidad, Puerto, Regional Assembly and also know the services the Youth Council offers our young people.

The actions carried out in each of the centers will be:

There will be a presentation of the center, reflecting the characteristics of its educational system, their reality and environment.

Work will study the historical and socio-economic aspects of each country, presenting a final product (mural, doc. Word, Power Point).

Each teacher will select one or more groups of students to participate.

Since its subject and in programming the same relevant aspects of project work, always presenting a product.

Then, among all the centers:

By choosing a logo for the project, it will be a contest with two phases (internal and general).

We will vote through our website.

There will be a project forum to discuss current issues.

Each year, will be developed in all languages of the project, a school diary.

It surveys work, murals, photographs and PowerPoint presentations, specific aspects such as social integration, equal opportunities, drug and alcohol, healthy habits, environmental conservation and natural resources careers in the EEC.

DVD compilation is drawn to all work performed annually and will be posted on the website of the project.

In total, there will be three meetings per school year transnational alternating different centers of the partnership as a meeting, to be attended by a representation of teachers and students of each school.

These meetings are essential to achieve the objectives of the Project and will have a detailed schedule of all activities to be performed, which shall be known and agreed by all members of the association and especially the coordinating center, the IES El Bohio, before the holding of the meeting.
