300 participants at the V Iberian Congress of Basketball (02/11/2009)

Cartagena has become this weekend at the headquarters of the V Iberian Congress of Basketball under the theme 'Science and practice, a future relationship. "

The activity, held in the Auditorium of the Centro Cultural Ramón Alonso Luzzy, has been organized by the Department of Sports City of Cartagena, in the UCAM and the Faculty of Sports Science, University of Extremadura, in collaboration with General Directorate of Sports of the CARM, and the Association of College of Graduate in Physical Education and Science in Sport and Physical Activity Murcia.

The program, conducted on 29, 30 and October 31 has consisted of several parts.

Including presentations at various professional sports, round tables to discuss various issues and scientific talks, which have involved about 300 people, including professionals, teachers and students.

The aim of this conference and scientific character has been training, promote contact between researchers and professional basketball, to improve the skills of all those dedicated to teaching the sport has so few followers in the region.

Despite its name of 'Iberian' and to work six Spanish and three Portuguese universities, congress, held every two years, has gained an international dimension with the participation of professors from universities in Greece, Argentina, Chile and Brazil.

This is the second time Congress leaves Caceres, the first was in 2005 and held in Vitoria.

This edition, Cartagena was the city chosen to host this sporting event that has had a budget between 40,000 and 60,000 euros.
