The Tomás Luis de Victoria, for the first time in the Museo del Teatro Romano (09/10/2009)

Mass Coral "Tomás Luis de Victoria 'perform for the first time in the Museo del Teatro Romano, featuring a concert on October 12, the feast day of Pilar de la Hispanidad, which includes a full program with madrigals, songs Spanish popular and folk songs.

Under the direction of Lorca Vogúmil Abellán Christopher de la Rosa, the mass choir will review the history of music, from popular songs like Arrorró or Oh, beautiful friend, to the more contemporary pieces like Vince Only you Clarke or Moon River by Henry Mancini, including the original soundtrack of the classic film Breakfast at Tiffany's.

The concert, with the collaboration of the Culture Department of the City of Cartagena will be held in the temporary exhibition hall of the Museo del Teatro Romano, starting at 20.00 hours and free entrance until full capacity.

Mass Coral "Tomás Luis de Victoria" in Cartagena began operations in 1945, was consolidated as a choir in the spring of 1946, under the auspices of the Council officer of Naval Construction, Military, Cartagena factory (later to be called National Company Bazan).

With the sponsorship of the shipbuilding firm continued until February of 1982, which would depend on the Hon.

Cartagena City Council, becoming a Municipal Board of the Town Hall until today.

Since its first concerts in the forties, the choir has a strong program of Spanish music and songbooks of the XV and XVI, as well as major European polyphony, with special dedication of the owner, Tomás Luis de Victoria , which made special programs.

He has taken his repertoire throughout Spain and also Italy, Belgium (Europalia 1985), Germany (275 th Anniversary of the founding of the Port of Duisburg in 1991) and France (Festival Internacional de Villers sur Mer - Normandy in 1992).

He has recorded five albums with the Spanish Renaissance music (secular and religious), Christmas carols from different Spanish regions, plays Marian character of the Region of Murcia, foreign madrigals.

Case also has programs (medieval music, religious, spiritual black, etc.).

He holds the following honors and awards: Special Prize at the First International Choir Competition in Madrid (1949) and First Prize in the International Competition Meritissimus Choir Palma de Mallorca (1950).

Several provincial and regional awards.

Silver Medal of the City of Cartagena (1966) and Gold Medal in the same city (1997), in addition to other awards received from various choirs and musical organizations.

In addition to its traditional Easter commitments and his usual spring concert of madrigals in 2006, he was partner, with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Murcia, and under the direction of Inma Shara, a Christmas concert in Teatro Circo Cartagena.

The year 2007 was also invited to perform in coral Lorca and Vélez Rubio (Almería) Vivaldi's Gloria, with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Albacete.
