Cartagena Civil Protection operates over 10,000 operations on the beaches during July and August (02/09/2009)

The parts of the civil protection of the City of Cartagena performed 10,293 operations on beaches during July and August, the two busiest months on the coasts and in which the device is at full capacity.

In July interventions amounted to 5263, compared to the month of August 5030.

Once again the actions of priests and first aid were the most abundant: 4,333.

Of these, most, 2285, were motivated by allergies, 884 were injured in various kinds of contacts 650 and 390 for jellyfish stings.

The rescue action in the field amounted to 312.

The majority, 274 were rescuing people: 139 in July and 135 in August.

The two ambulances at its disposal this year the City of Cartagena has done in the same period, shipments of 145 sick or injured.

Safety general director of the City of Cartagena, Carlos Nieto, expressed his satisfaction with the functioning of the device and the number of services provided to beach users, which this year has been particularly busy, which shows its utility and necessity.

The beach monitoring stations have risen to 22 and rescue personnel, 78 people.
