More than 300 people attend in Cabo de Palos to the conference 'The Region of Murcia, facing the sea' (08/08/2009)

Diving in the coves of the coast, visit the Interpretation Center of Cape Palos, or discover the wonders of underwater archeology have been some of the activities

More than 300 people from different parts of the region met today in Cabo de Palos on the occasion of the conference 'The Region of Murcia, facing the sea', organized by the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Directorate General for Transport and Ports.

The attendees took a tour of the village of Cabo de Palos, and toured the route linking the port with the lighthouse, one of the highest in Spain.

They also had the opportunity to find the center of Cabo de Palos Interpretation 'Blue Planet', one of the most complete of the Mediterranean on nature-related activities.

In addition, for children, the Ministry organized a children's painting competition titled 'Adventures and experiences in the Puerto de Cabo de Palos', involving dozens of children.

Diving in the coves of the coastline was one of the activities which had a higher number of participants, thanks to the collaboration of the dive shops in the locality.

The end of the day put the conference entitled "The protection of underwater cultural heritage in Spain: a task for all ', the underwater archaeologist Rocío Castillo offered at the Centre.

The director general of Transport and Ports, Carmen Sandoval said about that "we are developing activities every Saturday in July and August in various ports of the region are scheduled to wake up thinking about the interest of Murcia and the people visit the region along the coasts and ports of our community, and we hope that more citizens will join this initiative of the Ministry. "
