Woman Councillor for the City of Cartagena, Rosario Montero, and the Federation of Associations of Women, have called a silent demonstration at noon at the gates of the Town Hall to express the revulsion at the death of a woman this morning in Los Barreros, by her husband who then killed himself.
The fact, whose circumstances are being investigated by the National Police, there was about 00.30 hours.
A call to the switchboard of the local police warned that shots had been heard in a residential neighborhood of Los Barreros.
Upon arrival officers found the victim dead and her alleged assailant, shot by a shotgun.
The 48 year old victim and the aggressor of 66 were separating, and apparently he did not accept this situation.
The concentration was chaired by the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, and she has participated councilors, officials and citizens.
Barreiro has expressed its deepest condolences to the couple's son died.
This is the first victim of domestic violence occurring in the Region of Murcia this year.
Councillor for Women, Rosario Montero, recalled that the Cartagena CAVI have treated 115 cases of domestic violence so far this year, fifty formalized complaints and 57 orders of protection granted.
Montero has said that from the municipal services were not aware of any complaint by the victim.
Montero recalled that the Administration offers citizens a variety of tools to detect and report this type of violence, including comprehensive service to the Department of Women.
