The Governing Council has authorized the hiring of service for the drafting of the layout and construction of new access to the tailings basin from Cartagena, a total of 1,811,775 euros.

This is a necessary work to increase the capacity of the road due to the increase of vehicles derived from the commercial expansion of the area, whose business has grown considerably in recent years by the industrial development of the most important chemical nucleus of the Region , Valley of tailings.

This project will involve the duplication of the road, two to four lanes in the stretch between San Pedro pier and tailings basin, and includes the construction of three new tunnels and two viaducts to improve connections within of the actions envisaged by the Monitoring Group Activities in the Valley of tailings.
