The travel diary of José Manuel Navia exposed in the Sea of Art (09/07/2009)

José Manuel Navia (Madrid, 1957) has, within the programming of The Sea of Art, "Morocco, fragments of everyday life" an extensive travelogue result of repeated visits to the neighboring country that have been happening for the past eighteen years .

Curated by Paco Salinas also a photographer, the exhibition aims to delve the viewer in a country of strong contrasts.

Categorical, clear images in which the power of color has a dominant presence.

The photographs may be from 9 to 31 August at the Palace Hall of Cartagena.

According to the artist, the work that is exposed is an exercise of recognition, of reunion with people, landscapes, places, objects, simple gestures can create a world.

"Morocco is as far away as The Thousand and One Nights and as close as a town in Andalusia," says Navia.

Navia, a photographer also has a degree in philosophy and works with leading media.

The path has gradually Navia, remained for a decade in the photo department of the publishing house SM and since 1992 a member of the Vu agency.

Married in 1979 with the painter Carmen Martin, it became the editor of his photographs.

His work appears in various collections and several books and exhibitions account for their images, including: the essay Navia, From the Cathedral, Terrotorios of Don Quixote, Journey to the story, Antonio Machado and World Heritage Cities.
