UPyD Cartagena criticizes the lack of control of the Department of Infrastructure in the use of municipal landfill Regent Mina (06/07/2009)

In a press release UPyD Cartagena:

The use of landfill for municipal solid waste Regent Mine was scheduled for a period of 15 years.

However, only been 5 since it began use in 2004, and has already had to close down because they were clogged.

This time difference so bulging between forecast and actual use Lhicarsa called into question, a joint venture formed between the City and Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC).

But in addition the circumstances now known, that FCC has placed in Regent Mine waste from other municipalities, such as Aspen or Alhama Source, for an indefinite period, without the knowledge of the Department of Infrastructure of the City of Cartagena.

Moreover, the landfill has been used to deposit rubbish of San Javier and La Union, in this case with knowledge of the City of Cartagena and the payment of fees.

Cartagena UPyD considered unacceptable lack of control in this case, recognized by the City Council itself, José Vicente Albaladejo, and requests for clarification of the circumstances which led, first operation of the site in just five years, and the alleged irregular use FCC has made the depositing waste from other municipalities in the region without the knowledge of the City of Cartagena.
