González Tovar, Pilar Barreiro visit Cartagena works carried out under the State Investment Fund Local (01/07/2009)

The Government of Spain has paid 153 million euros in 591 works of the Murcia region involving the creation of 11,811 jobs so far

Has begun to pay the final part of the project funding from the State Fund

The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, and the Mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro Alvarez, this morning visited three of the works being undertaken in the municipality under the Local Investment Fund.

This concerns in particular urban intervention in the Plaza de López Pinto, with an investment of 1,048,308 euros, which includes a path of traffic, street furniture (bins, fountains, lighting and benches), tree pits for trees, etc. ., replacement of floor and water services in the Calle Mayor, Comedy and Still Life, with a budget of 1,117,231 euros, and an adaptation of the environment of the windlass in the amount of 1,717,307 euros.

In this area of historical work is conducted, such as demolition of stairs to make them more accessible, grading, paving, conversion of streets into pedestrian street lighting, electricity networks, sanitation and audiovisual communications, furniture, etc.

The delegate of the Government and the Mayor recalled that, in total, in Cartagena will be performed 63 works to be funded entirely by the Local Investment Fund to 36,687,188 euros.

These works were selected by the City Council and subsequently approved by the Government Delegation in the first instance, and the then Ministry of Public Administration later.

It was initially planned to create 950 jobs, however, once they have been awarded, the job has increased by 21%, reaching a total of 1,151 workers, 366 and 785 start-up of persons within the successful tenderers.

Tovar Gonzalez recalled that the Government of Spain paid to municipalities for 70% of each of these works once they are hired them, and the remaining 30% upon completion.

On this regard, Cartagena has received 23.8 million euros to pay the first part of 62 projects.

The Local Investment Fund to date

Moreover, Gonzalez Tovar reported that to date, the Ministry of Planning Policy has been transferred to 41 municipalities in the region EUR 153,167,988, corresponding to 591 projects have received funding for the 70 percent of the total payment projects.

Also pointed out that 30% is being delivered upon completion of each performance and justify the investment with the Government of Spain.

In this sense, González Tovar explained that last week was paid on completion of the work in the first draft of the Region, held in the municipality of Santomera.

"Everything is being carried out with great speed and efficiency, the delegate stated" The Government is meeting its commitments in a timely manner, first by paying 70 percent of each project, once they are awarded by the municipalities, and then paying the remaining 30 percent, to finish the works and submit the relevant certificates. "

With regard to jobs created so far, González Tovar explained that already have generated 11,811 direct jobs.

Of these, 3,913 are newly created and 7898 of persons within the successful tenderers.

In this latter regard, the delegate explained that the number of jobs created and financed the works awarded the Local Investment Fund, to date, is much higher than originally planned, so finally it is estimated that the number of posts Work is about 13,000 jobs.

The Government delegate pointed out that the Region of Murcia has been the recipient of 246.3 M € of this fund and once the presentation phase of projects, 673 projects submitted were approved by the 45 municipalities in the region.
