The Enagás regasification plant in Cartagena will receive this summer at the world's largest LNG (30/06/2009)

The regasification plant in Cartagena Enagás may receive in its dock, starting this summer, LNG tankers up to 263,000 m3.

With this expansion, the regasification of Cartagena will be the first Enagás plants ready for unloading LNG ships of this size.

So far the only permitted access berthing ships up to 140,000 m3.

Also under construction is the fifth storage tank with a capacity of 150,000 m3 of LNG.

After completion of civil works is expected to begin construction in September of interconnection lines with the plant and work inside the tank.

With an estimated investment of 100 million euros, this tank is scheduled to become operational in late 2010.

During construction of the tank has reached more than 500 people work.

These extensions are added to those in 2008, when he entered the fourth operation of LNG storage tank of 150,000 m3 of capacity, and expanded the broadcast capacity from 1,200,000 m3 (n) / h to 1,350,000 m3 (n) / h.

Also in 2008, launched the expansion of the recovery system of boil off the plant.

After several extensions, the Cartagena plant will have five LNG storage tanks with a total capacity of 587,000 m3 of LNG, an emission capacity of 1,350,000 m3 (n) / h with two berths for LNG carriers, one for vessels up to 40,000 m3 capacity and the other for boats up to 263,000 m3.

With respect to pipelines, Enagás account in the Region of Murcia with 200 km, to which one must add 180 km more, after this summer's launch of two new ones: the Almería-Chinchilla, of which a stretch of 148 km passes through the region of Murcia, Lorca and Ramal.
