Begin work on the third building Cartagena Security Center (08/06/2009)

Community support of its construction with 600,000 euros

Work on the third building of Cartagena Security Center, designed to expand existing local police units, began today with the laying of the cornerstone by the Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte, and the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro.

The new infrastructure is built next to the two buildings of the local police and with it will improve the current staffing needs of the local police in Cartagena as a result of the increase in 50 police for the Public Safety Plan of the Region of Murcia .

Of these, 27 are civil servants and 23 have just completed the training course and take up their positions shortly.

The work, which have a lead time of ten months, is budgeted at 930,691 euros, of which the Autonomous Community provides 600,000, through an agreement with the City Council.

The building, with a floor area of 1,500 square meters, consists of two bodies, one consisting of two main floors are devoted to office use, shops and warehouses for police and emergency services in the municipality, and other body building connected with the former consisting of a plant and is intended for parking.

The start of construction is "a step in the attention given by the regional government to safety in the Region of Murcia, improving the needs of the bodies of local police to provide a service to citizens in good condition" as said Maria Pedro Reverte.

Also, the minister recalled that the Regional Public Safety Plan has allowed the incorporation of a total of 628 new agents to the local police of the Region of Murcia.

In addition to the City of Cartagena, the Presidential and Public Administration has awarded several grants to fund this type of infrastructure to the municipalities of Murcia, Molina de Segura, Fuente Alamo, Sewer, Alguazas, Beniel, Cieza, Moratalla, Yecla, Alhama Murcia, Abarán, Lorca, Totana, Puerto Lumbreras, Cehegín, Cotillas Towers and La Union.

Police in the districts

Presidency and the Ministry of Public Administration and the City of Cartagena are also working on the rehabilitation project of building 'Castillito' for use as the local police headquarters in the Los Dolores, which is awaiting your bid.

To that end, late last year signed an agreement that allowed the initiation of the necessary steps to develop this event budgeted at 395,861 euros, of which the Autonomous Community will contribute 375,000.

The goal is to serve the area west of Cartagena to complete the deployment of police in the districts of the municipality.

Under the bill, the building's usable area reaches 110 square meters on two floors, an outdoor garden and parking areas for police vehicles.

With this rehabilitation is in response to a longstanding demand of the residents of Los Dolores and is given use of a historic building.
