The City acquired two new vehicles adapted donated by Caja Murcia (11/05/2009)

The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, and the president of Caja Murcia, Carlos Egea, today signed a collaboration agreement for the delivery of two vehicles adapted for the Social Care Area of the City.

The two vehicles that were donated by the Fundación Caja Murcia, will go to to transport the elderly to the Day Care Centers that the region has in Cartagena.

These centers are located in Fuente de Cubas (works currently located in Alameda) for Alzheimer's patients, and in front of Club Cabos (Home III).

These are now three vehicles adapted from those available to the City Council for this purpose, which, as highlighted Pilar Barreiro, will reduce travel time and increase the number of routes, since, to date, with a single vehicle, was complicated by the variety of collection points and times.

The number of users who benefit from the services are 30 Day Centres Home III, of which 26 need transportation, and 30 at the Center for Alzheimer's Day Care, of which 19 need transportation.

Currently being paid to transport a bus company as well as cover the cost of two taxis adapted.

This represents an annual total of 78,000 euros.

With this new formula in addition to improving service quality, reducing transportation time and the number of users in each, will be a savings in total cost thereof, on the other hand generating two or four new jobs.

All thanks to the donation made Fundación Caja Murcia.

The cost of two drivers, for five hours a day, ranging around 29,000 per year if it contracts with an outside company (if you are hired directly by the City Council would cost € 40,000 and only four hours a day).

If you also had to hire two guides for the transport, a situation which in principle is negotiated with the autonomous region to be covered by the staff of Day Care Center, we stand at about 60,000 per year.

In the first case a saving of 48,000 per year and the second € 18,000.

Besides daily displays of the City's corporate image through the streets of Cartagena and the neighborhoods, they generate new jobs, which need not to hire the town hall and old spend less time in transport, which is made only seven Seven people plus the driver and passenger.
