Two hundred women participated in the First Day of Women's Associations in the Region (01/05/2009)

A hundred women from 38 associations in the region, participated this week in the First Day of Women's Associations in the Region, held in Cartagena with the title 'The Visibility of Women's Associations. "

This meeting highlighted the presence of two Italian experts, and Paola Lucia Cucciarelli Taglioli, who gave a lecture on 'Women, Cultural and Civic Participation. "

The seminar, organized by the Federation of Associations of Women Cartagena Mediterranean, was inaugurated by the director of the Institute for Women in the Region of Murcia, Teresa Moreno, who highlighted in his speech the important role played by women's associations in the society, because "its members can act and claim, as well as performing useful tasks, be heard, influence and lead change."

According to Moreno, "women's associations must be fully recognized in society because otherwise we would be missing an important source of ideas and diversity of views that contribute to building a more egalitarian society."

Teresa Moreno Director also highlighted the importance of producing "a generational change" among the members of associations, "to ensure the permanence in time of these important social institutions," he added.

The ceremony was also attended by the Councillor for Culture, Women's Archaeological Heritage and the City of Cartagena, Rosario Montero, president of the Federation of Mediterranean Women Cartagena, María Dolores Alcaraz.
