Inauguration of exhibition of models of the five architectural projects that choose to settle in the Santa Lucia (26/01/2009)

The councilman of Youth, Javier Herrero, and Decentralization, Nicolás Ángel Bernal and María Dolores García Nieto, accompanied by the representative of the School of Architecture, Alicante, Juan Antonio Sánchez Morales, and President of the Association of Santa Lucia Alfonso Martinez, inaugurated the exhibition of models of architectural projects presented by different teams of students from the School of Architecture at the invitation of the festival of young talents Mucho Mas Mayo in its 2009 edition.

This year there have been five architectural interventions among which will select to carry out in the neighborhood of Santa Lucia.

Remember that this is the second year the festival Mucho Mas Mayo commitment to architecture between artistic disciplines, this being also one of its most outstanding notes, as in the 2008 edition ran the project 'The forest shown' in Chronicler Casal Square, the neighborhood Virgen de la Caridad (see project ...)

The project manager of the School of Architecture, Juan Antonio Sánchez, stressed that each project has its peculiarities and its own concept of space and the neighborhood, but all pursuing a public interest: to create spaces where everyday living, playing, talking and observe.

It has also encouraged all residents to come to the local office of St. Lucia to discover the projects and meet the memory and details of each of them.

In terms of projects, 30,000 Project represents a continuation to the sea of the Plaza Molina hairy Children aims to create architectures brought from Neverland, tape Lucia, also in the vicinity of the Plaza Molina, is a steel tape that is cut and twist to space and incorporates lights, planters, street lights, playground, gardens ...; A neighborhood with its own light, in Constitution Square, features a cover with translucent colored plastics and lightweight , supported with metal cables that convert the light of day, and finally, a fifth project that has several small interventions throughout the neighborhood, similar to a kind of pilgrimage with stops, playgrounds, recreation and sports, using paints, recycled and reused furniture.

The exhibition of the models will be installed on the local office of St. Lucia until February 8 and can be accessed by all residents and citizens of Cartagena.

But since Monday 26 January, marking the start of the exhibition until Friday 30 January, residents of the neighborhood of Santa Lucia will go to the clubhouse to vote on, among those presented, that they like.

That same day, January 30, a jury comprising representatives of the City Council, members of the Architecture School of Alicante and neighborhood residents selected the winning design from among all those presented.

For this selection, will be taken into account the feedback that the neighbors have been making throughout the week and the maximum budget to implement the project, estimated at 30,000 euros.

In carrying out this project involved a group of students of the winning project.
